The queen is on her throne. She sits there day and night, watching all those, who enter her chamber. They come to spend mere moments, in her gentle warmth. Then, they leave.
Nobody who enters her room, can ever stay in for too long!
The sentinels standing at the gates of her palace, do not have the wisdom to discriminate. They simply allow in just anyone, whoever happens to come their way. Those eyes and ears do not know, what they see or hear!

But the queen is sitting on her throne, and they all are permitted in, to be seen and heard.
She does not judge, criticize, applaud or embrace anyone. Both sinners and saints are received, with her same welcoming glance and a noticing nod.
Some visitors frequently come back. Others try stubbornly, to linger around. Some are loud and noisy. They come yelling, trying to arouse her- hoping in vain, to remove her and occupy her throne. But the queen never leaves her throne!

They all return back eventually, to wherever they came from.
Always alert and watchful, the queen acknowledges each guest, with clear bright attention and a subtle smile.
Occasionally, she invites some visitors to come closer. Like energetic little toddlers, they bask under her warm gaze! They play around her briefly, chattering in their noisy nonsensical blabber, while she looks and listens- with calm passive interest. But no one ever stays for long.

The new visitors continue coming to her, in a never-ending procession. Trying to greet her, constantly demanding her attention, they shuffle in and out in an ever-moving que, through her sacred chamber.
Awareness is the queen on the throne.
Her ever-watchful presence sees it all, noticing each arriving perception, with the same clear view. Her gentle eyes never tired, never closed, never asleep!
Seated on her throne, her tranquil open stillness knows every movement. Every thought or emotion, every impulse or sensation, every perception that ever enters the door of consciousness, meets the watchful gaze of the silent queen.
No one can slip past her alert presence.

Everyone who comes in wandering here, is in her service. She acknowledges all visitors, nodding politely, then letting them go.
She alone always remains in charge. They are her servile subjects, living momentarily, under her eternal rule. Their only purpose is to be seen by her, finding their life and true meaning, in her tender glance.
Awareness is their beloved queen.
She is our queen too!
In her sacred chamber, we seek refuge from the chaos of this world, finding our true peace and bliss.
And, unlike her other visitors, we can stay with her forever- for that throne of the queen, is who we really are!
Awareness is the queen sitting on the throne of our being. How blessed are we, as the queen never leaves her throne!

For me, awareness is right seeing, right hearing, right knowing, right doing, right being. To not live in ways commensurate with our awareness is to betray our essential duty to be true to our innate knowing with filial devotion and unwavering loyalty to our original nature and our intrinsic virtuosities.
Thank you Jim! Certainly, that is a form of awareness in the sense of the alignment of our conduct, with our ethical and moral values. I also agree, that this alignment comes by authentic living in accordance with our innate knowing, by respecting our intuition and listening to the deep calling of our true nature.
Here in this post, I refer to Awareness in a more primal sense, as our most intimate experience of being, knowing, perceiving and interacting with everything that comes in contact with our body-mind. Just another way to understand this insight, to help shift our emphasis from the impermanent events, towards trusting and finding peace in our being-knowing stable (Awareness) aspect. Looking at it this way, has been helpful for me to see what really matters, what is dependable (Awareness) in contrast to what is always unreliable, changing, moving, arising and disappearing (everything else in our experience).
