Inner transformation

New beginnings are exciting and great for inspiring change. We are motivated to start fresh and shed a part of our old burdens. But superficial outward changes cannot last long, without a fundamental inner transformation.

Soon, the set patterns of our old habits catch up with us- they were not gone, only temporarily pushed aside by the enthusiasm of a new resolve- shortly returning back with a vengeance, to reclaim their captured territories again!

It has been said that we carry our world within us. Even when we physically leave a place, we carry our conditioning, our habits, our whole past with us, wherever we go. Our world-view travels with us. Soon after leaving our previous location or situation, we manage to re-populate our new surroundings, with much of the same old attitudes and behavior.

Changing the surface details of our lives, may temporarily help to change our circumstances, but it usually cannot bring about a stable transformation in our outlook. As a result, we often repeat our old patterns and suffer the frustration of same unpleasant consequences again.

Superficial changes cannot bring lasting transformation and we repeat our old patterns of behavior, causing us frustration and suffering. A real change is possible only from within our innermost centre.

The only hope for any true lasting change, is from the innermost centre of our being-  the seat of our true power, because this is where we really are! We can find it, by simply turning in.

We are usually distracted with many things, never calm or settled enough to experience the peaceful tranquility that is always available to us, within our self.

Meditation, is simply being, where we truly are!

To familiarize ourselves with this open inner space within us, we can start sitting silently every day, in a comfortable posture. Consciously letting the body relax, gently collecting our scattered attention, helping it to flow inwards.

It may require some patience in the beginning. The attempts to withdraw attention from the external distractions, may require some efforts when we start, only because we are in a habit of always attending to the outside. But soon we get the hang of it, and this turns into an effortless natural non-doing!

We continue moving within, passively noticing everything that we encounter. Not stopping for anything on the way, not holding on to, following, inviting, or rejecting anything that comes up. Simply passing by whatever arises in the consciousness, as a neutral witness, aware but not grasping.

Letting go of everything that can be experienced or perceived, we continue sinking deeper and deeper in our inner silence.

With our attention turned inwards, we continue noticing and letting go of everything that arises in our awareness, sinking deeper towards our centre of being, into inner silence and stillness.

Eventually we find ourselves aware of an emptiness from all objects. Not stopping yet, because the absence of everything is still an object! This ‘feeling’, this ‘sense’ of emptiness is still on the outside of our true centre!

We notice and continue, without grasping, simply witnessing and letting go of everything that arises in mind. Sinking deeper into the inner stillness- where nothing from outside can penetrate. We realize, that we are, but nothing else is!

This ultimate absence of everything which could be felt, known, experienced, or perceived- is permeated with a peaceful fragrance of our real self. This absence of all absence, is our innermost sanctuary!

We soak in the silence and stillness at this center, far from the rapidly turning wheel, of our chaotic life experiences. The million problems of our lives, spinning fast on the periphery of the wheel, spontaneously drop away, while we remain still at this centre of our being.

At the centre of our being soaking in silence and stillness, we are free from all problems and burdens of our lives. We recognize a fundamental shift in our perspective, resulting in inner transformation.

At this innermost depth of our being, we are always free of all our perceived burdens. From this inner core, the deep ‘inside’ of our being-  all our ‘outside’ entanglements are spontaneously released, and we consciously taste our freedom.

Every time we consciously access this inner space, we find all our worries falling away. Whenever present here, we drop our heavy unnecessary baggage, emerging light and free, with only our essential being!

This deepest core of our being, is the heart of here and now. In the timeless eternity spreading across countless present moments, we are completely refreshed and renewed.

This centre, is our private magic portal to real lasting change and a fresh perspective-  a sacred gate, to our fundamental inner transformation!

At the deepest core of our being, is the magic portal to real change and fundamental inner transformation, where we are refreshed and renewed, in the timeless eternity of the present moment.

  1. Being attached to the way we see things to the point of thinking/saying/SHOUTING, “LISTEN TO ME!!! I HAVE THE TRUTH!!” is a sure sign that we have deceived ourselves again and need to return to the emptiness/stillness/silence and stay there until our enthusiasm wains.

    1. So true. And the cycle continues…we go in, out, in again- to cleanse, replenish and refresh. This is the rhythm of life! Only we get to understand this sequence better and enjoy the game more and more, from the inner silence…Perhaps we are never perfect but now we know how to find the perfections even through the flaws and problems. It is again, only a shift in perspective and attitude…Nothing ‘done’ differently, but things start to ‘happen’ differently effortlessly.

  2. We are always looking/seeing like children at play, delighting in the wonder of looking/seeing now, and now, and now…

    1. Yes! But sadly, often we are so lost under the heavy weight of all our perceived (legitimate or not) burdens, that we forget to delight, wonder and play in the now. We forget frequently that life is precious, a rare gift. In a way all those moments when we do not realize and appreciate this, are wasted… but again, in the end, it is never too late to return and perhaps ‘time’ is only a concept 🙂
